Two weeks after his brother died from brain cancer, David Cook will perform the song dedicated to his brother and his struggle on American Idol on Wednesday night.

'Permanent' was co-written by Our Lady Peace's lead singer Raine Maida, who's band made the announcement on their MySpace page.

"We recorded 'Permanent' in two takes and everyone in the room was crying," Cook said on his website. "I actually had to leave at one point because it was so emotional.

Cook will be performing the song on the American Idol finale show on May 20 and then release the song on iTunes. All proceeds from the single will go to Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABC2), a Washington, D.C.-based organization dedicated to finding a cure for brain cancer.
