Fit-Friendly Companies Improve Health, Productivity
Are you tied to your desk and sitting much of the day? New research finds sitting a lot increases the chances of death from all causes except cancer, even for those who get exercise in their leisure time.

All the sales people at Sunlight Saunas have wireless headsets so they can talk and walk, good for lowering the risk of heart disease, diabetes and other effects of a sedentary lifestyle.

"It also builds energy and that energy is contagious and that leads to more productivity, more sales and more revenue," Connie Zack with Sunlight Saunas said.

Zack hasn't stopped there in creating a wellness workplace wonderland. If you get frustrated, you can leave the sales office and take out your frustration in the gym free for employees in the building.

They can also have a free sauna session and the public spa is discounted for them. For some, ping-ponging stress away is more their style and you can take a break anytime during the workday.

"Our goals come first, but that doesn't mean you can't take an hour and half lunch and spend that half hour working out," employee Erin Roscetti said.

And eat a healthy lunch made by the company chef. Breakfast and a snack is available also, all for $5.50 a day.

Zack said the benefits outweigh the costs to the company.

"They're more productive. We also see less turnover and we also see less absenteeism," Zach said.

The American Heart Association just named Sunlight Saunas one of its fit-friendly companies.

The American Heart Association has also added Farmland Foods and Research Medical Center to its list of fit-friendly companies.
