The fourth annual Art of the Car Concours will be held Sunday, June 27, on the campus of the Kansas City Art Institute from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit student scholarships. Tickets are $12, $10 if purchased online, and children under 10 get in free.
Marshall Miller, a local attorney and car enthusiast founded and organizes the annual event. He will display his 1917 Detroit Electric, 1931 Cord L29 Cabriolet and 1939 Lincoln Zephyr four-door convertible. Others on display will be 180 vintage vehicles, including President Woodrow Wilson's 1919 Pierce-Arrow Limousine, which is coming from the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum in Staunton, Va., and the Bobby Darin "Dream Car," a one-of-a-kind custom car designed by Detroit clothing designer Andy Di Dia in 1953 and completed in 1960, which is coming from the St. Louis Transportation Museum.
The largest show of its kind in the Kansas City region, the Concours will include classic and special interest cars, trucks, racing cars and motorcycles belonging to Midwest area collectors. Concours attendees will be able to vote for their favorite vehicles, and "People's Choice" awards will be given to the top five vehicles. Food and drink vendors will be on site with hot dogs, ice cream and soft drinks.
