WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — State officials have suspended the license of a Wichita day care center after its owner was accused of driving children around town while she was drunk.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says Margaret Walker also didn't have a valid driver's license when she was pulled over on Friday. Police say she had seven day care children in the vehicle at the time.
KDHE says police received three calls from staff members of Creative Connections Learning Center saying Walker, who also was the center's program director, smelled strongly of alcohol.
Officials say Walker left before police arrived, but came back and took the children with her in a company vehicle. She left her purse at the center and police found a bottle of vodka inside.
