KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — An Uzbekistan national living in Kansas City has pleaded guilty to taking part in a 14-state human trafficking scheme.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 45-year-old Ilkham Fazilov pleaded Monday to his role in a racketeering conspiracy involving illegal immigrants who cleaned hotels for little or no pay.
Two other Uzbekistan natives and one from Moldova pleaded guilty earlier in the case.
Fazilov admitted that from December 2007 to May 2009 he participated in a scheme involving mail fraud, money laundering, inducing people to enter the U.S. illegally and harboring illegal aliens.
He was the organizer of Five Star Cleaning and Suncoast Hospitality Inc., which prosecutors say were fictitious companies used to obtain work visas for foreign nationals.
