KANSAS CITY, MO -
Activist Clay Chastain is fired up again about light rail, and now he's hitting the streets to ask Kansas City voters for support on another light rail plan.
Chastain will be at the Plaza Libary in Kansas City on Monday at 11 a.m. for a petition drive to put light rail back on the ballot. Chastain says the new plan is a little different than what was discussed in 2006. According to Chastain, the new plan is greener and would include a wind turbine on the riverfront.
In addition, new plan would have a light rail run from the Kansas City Zoo to the Plaza, Westport, Union Station and City Market. The $1.2 billion price tag would be paid for by a 3/8 cent sales tax for 25 years.
Chastain's petition drive will end Monday at 8 p.m.
