Cyclist To Ride Hundreds Of Miles For KCMO School District
Kansas City students will have new books, and quite a story to tell, thanks to a graduate student at Rockhurst University.

Skyler Myers is planning a ten day, solo bike ride to raise funds to buy books for the Kansas City, Missouri school district. Myers will be riding 800 miles and climbing 9,000 feet in elevation. In return, he hopes to get enough donations to buy 9,800 books.

"My apartment is in the Kansas City Missouri school district, so it's a community that I'm a part of and I wanted to help out as much as possible," Myers said.

"We are going to concentrate on award winning titles, we are going to concentrate on graphic novels and Spanish language books as well," lead librarian Grace Bridgeford said.

Myers ride is scheduled to begin on August 1. You can support Myers and donate to the book drive by clicking here. You can also follow Myers' progress at the Kansas City School District website.
