OLATHE, Kan. - An Olathe woman is collecting Halloween candy for American soldiers in Afghanistan. Lucy Delsarto mailed 25 boxes of candy to US troops on Tuesday.

Her contacts in Afghanistan say most of the soldiers will give the candy to Afghani children as a gesture of goodwill.

"I think it's going to open up a lot of doors and let them know that we're there to help them, you know we're the good guys in this situation, we're trying to give them their freedom and candy is just an avenue. One piece can do a distance," Delsarto said.

Delsarto is still collecting candy through Friday.

If your kids want to donate some of their loot, they can drop it off at the Dragonfly Bakery, near 119th and Black Bob in Olathe.
