Metro Man Injured in House Fire
OVERLAND PARK, KAN - An Overland Park man was seriously injured in an early morning house fire on Saturday.

According to authorities, firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a home in the 11600 block of Caenen Street in Overland Park around 6:00 a.m. when they were met by the man who told them that the fire was in an upstairs room.

The man, 42, whose name has not been released, was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center Burn Unit with second- and third-degree burns to 40-50 percent of his body and airway. His condition was not immediately available.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze, but they say that the home did have a working smoke detector. The blaze did an estimated $15,000 damage to the home.
