Former Metro Pastor Charged with Abuse
OLATHE, KAN - The former pastor of a metro church is in custody and faces charges of indecent liberties with a child, authorities said on Monday.

Wayne Huston, a former pastor with the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Overland Park, is in custody in the Johnson County Jail after being arrested on Monday.

Prosecutors allege that Huston, who church officials say left the church for unspecified reasons in August of last year, took indecent liberties with a child between November 4th and December 4th of 2009.

Huston was not employed by any church during the period of the alleged abuse, authorities said.

According to his website, Huston graduated from from Trinity Lutheran College in Seattle, Washington with a degree in Youth & Family Ministry. He received his training and certification in Spiritual Direction from the Souljourners Ecumenical Program for Spiritual Formation at Mt. St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, and has 18 years of experience in ministry.

According to his website, Huston had served the last eight years until last August as Director of Student Ministries at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
