Franklin Grammer
JOHNSON COUNTY, KS -
The man accused of shooting and killing his wife in broad daylight in Fairway, Kan., was charged with premeditated first degree murder on Thursday. After a stand-off in California, Franklin Grammer, 57, was taken back to Kansas on Wednesday where he was booked into the Johnson County Jail and charged with murder.
Grammer is accused of killing his estranged wife while she was painting at a job site in Fairway, Kansas on June 8. Grammer, who is from Oklahoma, fled and was found four days later in a hotel in Gorman, California.
Grammer shut himself in his hotel room for a several-hour standoff with California police before a special weapons team entered his room and found him unconscious with a puncture wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
Grammer is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $1 million bond. He is expected to make a court appearance at 1:30 on Thursday.
