MISSION, KAN -
A Chow that nearly froze to death after being left outside over the weekend has recovered from her surgery and is scheduled to be placed in a foster home on Wednesday.
Peaches had surgery at The Pet Connection in Mission Monday morning. The vet said she had been hit by a car and suffered kidney damage and extensive bruising to her belly. Her uterus was also infected and had to be removed.
Peaches also had eye surgery for a painful eyelid condition that could have eventually caused her to go blind. Pet Connection said they nearly lost Peaches during the surgery.
"She was on the table, her heart stopped," Jason Huff said. "She quit breathing and she turned purple. Started mouth-to-mouth. Thirty seconds later she was back with us."
The vet is still waiting to see what kind of long term damage she suffered because of being left out in the cold for so long.
If Peaches doesn't find a permanent home in the metro, a rescue organization in Minnesota has agreed to take her.
