KANSAS CITY, MO - Several Kansas City businesses are working together to help earthquake victims in Haiti. The Power and Light District teamed up with Heart to Heart International and the Community Blood Center to collect donations.

Amanda Taylor was in Haiti when the earthquake happened. Taylor said she's glad to see people stepping up to help.

"It's been overwhelming, it's heart warming, and being in Haiti, I was able to see Haitians helping Haitians," Taylor said. "And then to come here and see everyone pulling together the same way is really really encouraging."

Some nurses from Menorah Medical Center are raiding the medical supply closet and prepping for a week-long trip to Haiti.

"We don't want to get there and add to the chaos, so we want to get there and be as efficient as we can be and help as many people as we can, they desperately need it," said Sarah Wood, nurse.

Nurse, Amanda Martin said she knows she'll feel differently about the crisis in Haiti once she sees the devastation first hand.

"It's going to be life changing," she said. "I don't know what to expect, I'm sure I will be a different person when I come back."

Organizers said almost everyone can help by donating blood or money. If you would like to help with the Haiti relief effort, visit our How to Help page.
