KANSAS CITY, KAN - A triple shooting overnight led to a standoff with police in Kansas City, Kan. The incident happened just after midnight at an apartment complex at 23rd and Birch.

Three people were shot outside the apartment complex, and the suspected shooter ran to an apartment and barricaded himself inside. Police brought in a SWAT team and a canine unit. After a period of time, police obtained a search warrant to enter the apartment. Inside, it appeared everyone was asleep. Police said those inside the apartment were the suspected shooter, another man, a woman and her 2-year-old child.

Police took them into police custody for questioning.

"It went very smoothly," said Mike Golden, Kansas City, Kansas police officer. "It's what our tactical team does. They train for situations like this all the time and it turned out okay."

As for the three people who were shot, two of them were treated and released from an area hospital. The third remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
