KANSAS CITY, MO -
Kansas City police are investigating the kidnapping and robbery of a Pizza Hut delivery man who was left bound on Jim Owens Road near Oak Grove, Mo. Police said the victim was assaulted Monday evening at Parvin Estate Town Homes in the Northland.
According to the victim, on Monday evening he delivered a pizza to 5912 NE Russell Road. After knocking, a woman in a purple bath towel answered the door. Suddenly, a man came from behind and shoved him inside the town home. They fell inside the entry way, and when the victim struggled to get away, the suspect pulled a gun and threatened to shoot him.
The woman took $20 from the victim's apron and duct taped his wrists together while the man continued to hold him at gunpoint. The suspects then moved the victim into the kitchen and made him sit on the floor. They proceeded to duct tape the man's eyes and mouth.
The suspects held the victim for about an hour until it was dark. Then they walked the victim outside to his own vehicle and forced him into the trunk. The victim said they traveled along the highway but was uncertain in which direction. While inside the trunk, the victim was able to free one wrist and pull the duct tape from his eyes and mouth. With his hands free, the victim pulled the trunk hatch open and waved a towel outside hoping to attract attention and get help.
After 30 minutes to an hour of driving the suspects stopped the vehicle and opened the trunk. The victim had returned both hands inside the duct tape so it would not appear he had not gotten loose. One of the suspects pulled the victim from the trunk and ordered him to walk to the other side of the road. The victim then asked for his cell phone and keys. The woman then handed him the bottom half of his cell phone, which they had broken. The suspects then got in the victim's vehicle and drove away. They were last seen heading east on Jim Owens Road.
Police continue to investigate the case. If you have any information, call the Tips Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
