KANSAS CITY, MO - Adventurer Dan Cook is on a unique mission. He's rowing from Montana to the Gulf of Mexico to bring awareness to disabled military veterans and their families. And his trek will take him down the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.

He is rowing for the Rivers of Recovery organization and the Heart of America Campaign. Both organizations help injured veterans. And on this Memorial Day, Cook found himself in Kansas City sharing an important message.

"I think one of the most important, poignent aspects of this trip is that everybody knows a veteran that has been affected by the recent conflict," he said. "We are not in the situation now that there are six degrees of separation between any one person and a veteran."

You can track Cook's progress by visiting RiversOfRecovery.org. His trip is expected to take two-and-a-half months.
