The husband of a missing Northland woman is speaking out about his wife's disappearance
Shon Pernice told a community activist his side of the story. The two had a frank and revealing 20 minute conversation recorded on tape.
Activist Alonzo Washington shared the the tape with FOX 4. Washington blogs about various crimes. But, a recent blog about the Renee Pernice case asked police to consider all possible suspects, not just look at her husband Shon Pernice.
Shon was shocked, and called Alonzo to thank him, and also share his thoughts on what happened to his wife Renee.
"Initially, I thought she took off," Pernice said on the tape.
In the 20 minute taped phone conversation, Shon Pernice said he has no idea what happened to his wife Renee.
"Now, that it's been three months, it's gut wrenching, thinking that either she's got a rich (BLEEP) doctor boyfriend somewhere and she's happy, or she's dead," said Pernice.
Renee Pernice disappeared from the couple's Northland home January 2. Her family believes something bad happened to her because she never would have left her children. But, Shon denies having anything to do with it.
"I didn't harm my wife, not one bit, not at all," said Shon.
"Sitting down and getting this interview with him will bring a whole new perspective to this case," said Alonzo Washington.
Washington said Shon told him the couple's relationship was fine after he returned from Iraq. But, by December the couple was talking divorce.
"And, then boom -- she's just like gone," said Shon.
Shon also talked to Alonzo about Kelly Sharp, the KCK school teacher police wanted to talk to after Renee's disappearance.
He said Sharp's school sent cards and care packages to him while he was in Iraq, and the two struck up a relationship.
"When my relationship with Renee went sour in December, she was paging me again and I was responding. So, I said yeah yeah let's hook up," said Shon.
But, he said Renee was having an affair as well, and doesn't know if police have even talked to that person.
"The police basically are blind right now and just going at me," said Shon.
Alonzo said he's now getting lots of tips about Renee's love interest, and hearing more about Shon too. And, he said that's why he released this tape to keep generating tips. Alonzo said he's been passing on tips in the case to police.
He also said Shon had wanted to meet with him in person because he had more to say, but since then Alonzo has not heard from him.
