Alumbaugh also said that the Cyber Crimes Task Force was a part of the investigation to see if any child pornography was sent through the Internet.
"Exploitation of children is done quite a bit through the Internet," he said. "We have them involved to see if the evidence is there."
Charges against the men:
Mohler Sr. has been charged with forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old by the use of forcible compulsion, two counts of felony rape and two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance. Mohler Sr. currently lives in Independence, Mo.
Mohler Jr. has been charged with deviate sexual assault with a child less than 14 years old and two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance. Mohler Jr is from Independence, Mo.
David A. Mohler has been charged with forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old by use of forcible compulsion. Mohler is from Lamoni, Iowa.
Jared Leroy Mohler has been charged with forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old by use of forcible compulsion, forcible sodomy, knowingly had deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 12 years old by use forcible compulsion and two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance. Jared Mohler is from Columbia, Mo.
Roland Neil Mohler has been charged with use of a child in a sexual performance. Roland Mohler is from Bates City.
All five were being held in the Lafayette County jail on cash-only bonds ranging from $30,000 to $75,000.
The neighbors:
"It's hard to know that it's that close to your own home," said neighbor Sherri Dillon. "I mean it all happened, had to have been, when my kids were little. It makes your skin want to crawl."
Dillon said she remembers the Mohlers as very religious. In fact, she says that Burrell Mohler Sr., baptized her son.
"It's very unsettling that he was involved in that way and how we knew them so well," said Dillon. "My husband knew all the boys their entire life. They went to school together. I work with kids everyday, and to think that anybody would abuse a child in anyway is just unthinkable."
"It kind of freaks me out," said Gail Lewis, who is neighbors with Roland Mohler, the youngest of the suspects. "Because he's my neighbor and I have a young child. And that does not fly with me at all, especially when I know he was a paramedic because I was a paramedic."
The church:
Community of Christ spokesperson Linda L. Booth said none of the Mohlers served in leadership roles in the congregations they attended.
"Nor did they serve as volunteer youth workers, teach children or youth church school, or work with children or youth," she said.
In a statement from the church, they said:
"The church takes seriously the allegations that have been made and suspended the priesthood licenses of three lay ministers: Burrell Mohler Sr., David Mohler and Jared Mohler," the church said in a statement.
FOX 4 attempted to contact the ex-wife of Burrell Mohler, Sr. Neighbors say that she has remarried and has relocated to South Dakota.
