KANSAS CITY, MO - Kansas City, Mo.,, police are investigating after a robbery turned deadly on the city's Northeast side on Saturday morning.

Police arrested 19-year-old Travis Knott and 20-year-old Clifford Jackson following a standoff at an apartment complex in the area of 11th and Bales.

According to authorities, the two suspects shot and killed a store clerk around 11 a.m. at Abarottes Grocery store in the 3400 block of East 12th street.

Police say that following the robbery, the clerk and his brother tried to chase the suspects following the robbery, resulting in the clerk being shot. He was transported by ambulance to a metro hospital where he died a short time later. The clerk's brother continued to chase the suspects, described as two black males wearing dark hoodies, to the apartment building.

Police had initiated an Operation 100, and were searching the building and surrounding area for the suspects when the suspects emerged from a basement apartment and surrendered to authorities.
