KANSAS CITY, MO - Authorities in Clay County are sweeping the Northland to arrest suspected drug suspects as part of "Operation Twilight."

The warrants are based on a year-long investigation, as officers from eight different law-enforcement agencies gathered at the Clay County Detention Center early Friday morning with the goal of making 33 arrests from secret indictments.

"The purpose is to round up as many narcotics violators as possible," said Sgt. Steve Copp of the Clay County Sheriff's Department.

The arrests included three men at a suspected meth lab in Pleasant Valley.

"There's going to be, for a while, fewer people buying drugs in this area, so this city's a little bit safer now," said Officer Brian Lawrence of the North Kansas City Police Department.

Authorities say that the sweep has netted around 30 suspects, all of whom are in custody in Clay County.
