A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the murder of Steven Lawrence, 35, in Cass County on Sunday night. Christopher R. Sullivan, 27, and Monica A. Foust, 25, were arrested.
Sullivan is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence. His bond is set at $1 million. Foust is charged with two counts of tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution. Her bond is set at $25,000.
On Sunday, the Cass County Sheriff's office investigated the shooting death of Lawrence. Neighbors said they heard a single gun shot and saw a woman in a white truck leaving the scene of the crime at N. Lyne in Raymore.
Cass County Corporal Kevin Tieman said the suspect was believed to be a woman who fled the scene in the white F-250 pickup truck that was later found abandoned on E. 215th St, east of 291 Hwy north of Harrisonville, Mo.
Police said the victim died at an area hospital.
Sullivan and Foust are both in custody at the Cass County Sheriff's office.
