Sex Offender And YouTube Star 'Uncle Ed' Remains In Jail
TAVARES, Fla. - Convicted sex offender and former late-night Kansas City TV show host Edward Muscare remained in Lake County Jail today on charges that the 77-year-old former TV host may have violated his probation by using the Internet to post videos of himself lip-synching and singing on Youtube.

The wild-haired Muscare, who pleaded no contest in 1987 in Orange County to sexual battery of a 14-year-old boy in Orlando, did not appear in court this morning in Lake County but was represented by Assistant Public Defender Jeremy Pykocz.

Muscare is scheduled to face the judge in person next month.

The former resident of Lady Lake has acquired a cult-like following on the Internet with videos on Youtube that show him lip-synching and singing songs like "Oh, Pretty Woman" which some viewers and bloggers have described as creepy. His thin hair is unkempt and he is missing a tooth in the videos.

One blogger put Muscare's face over the likeness of actress Julia Roberts on the movie poster for the 1990 romantic comedy, Pretty Woman, so that he appears to be wearing the female lead's mini-skirt and thigh-high, spike-heeled boots.

Muscare, known as "Uncle Ed" to late-night TV viewers in Kansas City where he hosted a show, was charged in 2007 in Lake County with failing to comply with sex-offender requirements when he relocated from Lady Lake to South Carolina.

He was required by law to notify Lake County deputy sheriffs, who must track sex offenders.

Muscare avoided a prison sentence when (Lake) Circuit Judge Mark J. Hill placed him on sex-offender probation and approved a move to South Carolina, but imposed special conditions that forbid access to the Web or contact with children.
