Police Investigate Connection Between Burglary And Waldo Rapist
Two rapes in a few weeks time have some women on edge in Kansas City, Missouri's Waldo neighborhood. Now police are looking into the chance that a recent burglary could give them more clues about the rapist.

Jo asked that her face and last name not be used. Her house in Waldo was burglarized before the first rape happened on September 29. Now police are running fingerprints and they've told her to be careful and be aware of her surroundings.

"Police have told me call, if you hear anything suspicious," Jo said.

Jo said she initially didn't call after hearing someone on the side of her house, messing with a door and basement window.

"Didn't trust that instinct," she said. "My door to my screened-in porch was open when I looked the next morning."

Days later, burglars broke in and took a TV and a box of change. That time, Jo was out-of-town.

When news broke of the Waldo rapes, Jo shuddered thinking she could have been a victim of the rapist.

"I asked if it was a possibility and they said they can't rule anything out, so just be aware of your surroundings," she said.

Jo lived alone like the two rape victims. Now she has someone staying with her and has purchased safety equipment.

"I'm glad I wasn't home, yes, very glad," she said.
